Well, finally I did it.
I had my first gym session today. I have a programme to stick to, gently at first, but then moving on after a few weeks or indeed months. The last time I was in a gym was 20 odd years ago, and it had none of the fancy technical stuff that a modern gym now has. I now have a good idea of what I have to do.
Basically, it’s a case of starting slow and then building myself up, spending more time on the equipment until I go up to the next level. Sounds reasonable to me. The gym assistant was friendly enough, even when I had trouble putting my feet into the pedal “stirrups”. After being shown the exercises to do, I went back and did an extra 5 minutes on the treadmill, I felt knackered and had to stop.
So all in all, a good first session.
And as a result, I’m chuffed with myself. Something I kept on putting back (joining the gym in the first place), finally I’ve done something.
